Upward Sports is an evangelistic sports ministry designed for kindergarten-eighth grade boys and girls that promotes salvation, character, and self-esteem in every child.
Our goal is to help children grow and develop in all areas: physical, emotional, and spiritual. In many sports and recreation programs, winning is emphasized as the priority. In Upward Sports, we place emphasis on building character qualities like best effort, sportsmanship, leadership, and above all, Christ-likeness. The development of these character qualities, coupled with skills development, results in a sports ministry that benefits the whole child. This focus in no way diminishes the competition. In fact, it enhances and stimulates it, all in a fun and exciting atmosphere.
The First Baptist Brandon Upward Sports Ministry offers basketball in the fall/winter and indoor soccer in the spring/summer. It provides opportunities for the members of our church and community, no matter what denomination, to become meaningfully involved in the sports ministry of FBC Brandon. These opportunities include coaching or assistant coaching, becoming a commissioner, a prayer partner, a game day worker, and much more.
Teams practice one night a week for one hour and 8 games are played on Saturdays.

Upward basketball at FBC Brandon is strictly a volunteer organization. All coaches, referees and game day helpers are volunteers. If you are interested in coaching, please fill out the attached form and return it to the MAC. As volunteers we require all adults working with children to fill out a background check every 4 years by going to this link. Our initial coaches meeting will be held on October .
